It’s been an eventful month. Spent some time catching up with old friends and colleagues on rooftop patios when the weather managed to cooperate.
Found myself briefly in Shanghai, where there were massive clusters of artisanal coffee shops. I found my cafe vienna, while my companions enjoyed the Shanghai take on a Vietnamese egg coffee.
One standout dish I had was the Beggar’s chicken, a slow cooked chicken wrapped in parchment paper and left to cook in its own juices.
A really extremely interesting take on pigeon - crisped up skin, juicy meat gently smoked on tea leaves. One of the better pigeon dishes I’ve had recently.
A Shanghainese specialty - raw drunken crabs. Yeah. I still don’t get this one. Wasn’t a fan.
