Been another month of relative quiet on the dining front and complete chaos on the life front. I did manage to get out a bit more toward the end of the month and July should be much more eventful.
Hawksmoor - Air Street (London)
There’s a story behind this place. It was the first steakhouse I ever went to in London, and to this day, my vote for the best Steakhouse in London. I keep on coming back to this place, and it’s my default choice whenever I’m in the area and don’t know what to eat. It’s a chain, with locations in Knightsbridge, Seven Dials and the original location in Spitalfields, but the Hawksmoor on Air Street is still my favourite.
From stiff cocktails, to an amazing Sunday roast, to their legendary triple cooked chips, anchovy hollandaise and charcoaled grilled steaks, Hawksmoor is a place where I can genuinely say, “Get anything on the menu, and it’ll be amazing.”
Burger and Lobster (London)
Aptly named, they serve burgers and lobster in American-sized portions. Surprisingly good for a chain restaurant. Always good to catch up with friends around the world.
Coffee Academics (Hong Kong)
Decent, not amazing. A surprisingly good egg custard coffee, touching on Hong Kong egg tarts as an influence and fluffy pancakes halfway between Japanese souffle pancakes and flat IHOP-style pancakes.
